II - JOB SUMMARY
The Database Designer is an expert who is responsible for developing and implementing database elements (structure, data entry screens, edit checks). The DBD ensures that the any standard objects and study databases are set up according to defined timelines. He/she manages the study databases in compliance with the worldwide CDM standards to support a flawless conduct of clinical trials. He/She is the expert for Database administration, support and maintenance activities.
III - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge And Skills:
Advanced expertise in Clinical Data Management Systems (e.g., Clintrial, Oracle Clinical) and in the use of Data Management applications and database/file structures
Advanced expertise in database administration, design/programming, query language and metadata validation
Collaborates in development and implementation of new technical solutions and processes that can impact database activities
Anticipates complex problems and proactively works to minimize the impact. Delivers on commitments with high quality results
Ability to perform control quality and ensure maintenance on databases
Advanced analytical skills
Demonstrates high motivation for the job
Ability to handle multiple tasks paying attention to details, to prioritize and strong organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with interface departments and external partners
Ability to coach new DBD in the areas of standards, database administration, design and programming
Sufficient competence in English to ensure DBD activities
Formal Education And/Or Experience Required:
Bachelor degree, preferably in a life science or mathematics-related area (e.g., computer sciencecs or similar technical field) or equivalent experience in clinical data management.
Knowledge And Skills Desirable But Not Essential:
High degree of proficiency with Oracle and PL/ SQL programming including ability to develop PL/SQL packages and functions
Experience with SAS and/or other programming/query languages
Knowledge of industry standards and practices (e.g. CDISC)
Experience supporting standards management, ideally including CDM database and programming standards
Oracle DBA knowledge
Knowledge of clinical trial
